The Pirate Fairy

The Pirate Fairy

The fifth movie set in the world of Pixie Hollow, The Pirate Fairy introduces a slightly different character to the group: Zarina. Zarina is a dust-keeper fairy, who is curious about the pixie dust and the potential it possess. Forbidden to tamper with the precious dust, Zarina begins to mix and experiment. When disaster strikes, Zarina is cast out as a dust-keeper and chooses to leave Pixie Hollow. Later, with a plan in place, she steals the blue pixie dust and joins a band of pirates. A small group of fairies (Tink, Rosetta, Iridessa, Silvermist, Fawn, and Vidia) pursue her in the hopes of returning the dust to its rightful place. However, they discover that Zarina has not only joined the pirate crew, she has been named their captain. They witness as Zarina prepares the blue dust, with the help of James, and sets up a light trickle infusion into a tree located within Skull Rock. The result is the creation of another pixie dust tree. Unfortunately, once the experiment is a success, true intentions are revealed.

The Pirate Fairy is a fun movie, full of music, magic and thrills. Viewers will be treated to James, aka the younger version of Captain Hook. A few songs, the pirate one a favorite of my daughter’s, along with some fun scenes and adventure throughout makes for a very enjoyable movie for the entire family. I think I’ve heard The Frigate That Flies at least twenty times in the last few days. Fans of Tom Hiddleston will receive a pleasant surprise when he sings (queue swooning of Loki fans).

Voices:

Christina Rene Hendricks as Zarina, the pirate fairy

Mae Whitman as Tinker Bell, the tinker talent fairy

Kristin Chenoweth (in the first three films, then Megan Hilty) as Rosetta, the garden fairy

Raven-Symoné as Iridessa, the light fairy

Lucy Liu as Silvermist, the water fairy

America Ferrera as Fawn, the animal fairy

Pamela Adlon as Vidia, the fast flying fairy

Tom Hiddleston as James, a charming pirate

My personal favorite, besides James, was the introduction of the crocodile as a newborn named Crocky.

Fun facts:

Zarina’s pirate outfit was designed by Project Runway’s 4th Season winner:

Christian Siriano

Coming Soon (my guess is 2016):

Fun and talented animal fairy Fawn believes you can’t judge a book by its cover, or an animal by its fangs, so she befriends a huge and mysterious creature known as the NeverBeast. While Tinkerbell and her friends aren’t so sure about this scary addition to Pixie Hollow, the elite Scout Fairies set out to capture the monster before he destroys their home. Fawn must trust her heart and take a leap of faith if she hopes to rally the girls to save the NeverBeast.

Rumor has it that the Neverbeast may be the last of the fairy movies leading up to the story of Peter. The question is: Are there plans to remake Disney’s Peter Pan?
