Review of Grandpa Hugs

Grandpa Hugs
By Laura Neutzling

Grandmas are for kisses, and grandpas are for great big hugs! Grandpas are fun! They go on adventures, tell silly jokes, say funny things, and love to eat treats. This adorable board book celebrates how wonderful spending time with Grandpa can be!

Grandpas play an important role in a child’s life. I feel fortunate that the Grandpas on both sides of the family are very active and involved with their grandchildren. My dad was tough growing up, but with my kids? Sometimes stern, but always loving.

Grandpa hugs covers those moments between Grandpa and Grandkid. Going places for a treat. Telling silly “Uncle” jokes. Helping with skills, like riding a bike. Playing games. Going fishing (or in my kids’ case-camping!). Reading books together. And the ultimate moment with Grandpa: naps. Going up, both of my kids would snuggle with Grandpa, watch some cartoons and end up falling asleep on him for hours. And true to a good Grandpa, he’d stay there until they woke up.

I recommend this board book! With Father’s Day coming up soon, this would be a nice gift for both Grandpa and Grandchild. Remind them both of the tender moments they’ve shared. Maybe include a deck of Go Fish while you’re at it.
